Job Summary:

Gerald Group, a major global commodities trader, is seeking a Traffic/Logistics Coordinator to facilitate the physical movement, custody and contractual obligations concerning the metal traded across our North and South American business. The Traffic/Logistics Coordinator will work externally across several layers of the commodity supply chain to execute tasks with customers, logistics companies, and warehousers to ensure the timely and cost-efficient execution of physical metals trades, as well as liaise internally across departments as needed to adhere to reporting structures in place.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Facilitate logistical aspects of commodity contract administration via coordination with trading desks and 3rd party service providers.

·         Administer shipment and logistics including inspection, arrangement of containerized shipment from suppliers based in South America.

·         Co-ordinate with operation team across group offices for cross trade shipments.

·         Arrange and track daily truck and/or rail shipments of refined base metals between producers, storage facilities (may include exchange approved warehouses), ports, and consumers

·    Develop and maintain high quality customer service relationships with various counterparties including producers, consumers, and service providers in a manner which creates operational synergies across the supply chain

·     Proactively monitor contractual documentation, such as purchase/sales orders invoices, shipping and title documents to ensure contractual obligations and are met and realized in an accurate, timely and cost-efficient manner

·         Plan and execute logistics solutions which meet the highest level of efficiency, cost effectiveness and optimal customer service including storage and freight rate negotiations

·     Maintain internal records, including inventory on hand, goods in transit, and various bearer documents; continuous reconciliation of inventory records for reporting to traders, Credit, and Treasury as well as various external interested parties

·         Maintain and distribute storage and freight cost database in order to facilitate timely and accurate trading decisions

·         Responsible for timely releases, invoicing, and other document execution to counterparties as well as subsequent coordination of payments with the Treasury Department

·         Liaise with other departments including Trading, Treasury, Risk, Credit, Accounting and IT

·         Special projects as assigned

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree required

·         Prior experience in commodity logistics of 2+ years given preference

·         Knowledge of various trade/commercial rules such as Incoterm and banking is preferred

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software applications, especially Excel and Word

·         Demonstrates strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work as a team to meet strict deadlines in a high paced environment

·         Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

·         Must be flexible to work additional hours as required
