Position Summary:

Gerald Metals is looking for a Senior Copper Trader in our Stamford, CT office. The Senior Trader is responsible for sourcing and selling physical commodities and building and developing customer and supplier relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Executing and booking trades according to the copper platform and protocols.
  • Responsible for copper risk strategy in conjunction with the Global Head.
  • Initiates daily and monthly hedging positions against physical commodity purchase and sales contracts.
  • Manage trading assistant group who interface with Accounting Department, Mid-Office and Risk to perform daily & month end closing for derivatives and physical positions.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain trading strategy / positions
  • Develop structured transactions involving physical commodity contracts.
  • Manages trading assistant group to reconcile all account differences and margin requirements.
  • Assist in formulating futures market trading strategies against physical trade position.
  • Utilize sound risk management techniques to minimize overall risk for futures and physical contracts.
  • Prospecting and generating new sales leads and growth through referrals, cold-calling and market research.
  • Liaise between trading group, internal company departments, and OTC relationships.
  • Attend client meetings and industry events (30-40% travel).

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business preferred
  • Minimum of 5-8 years physical copper trading experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Detail oriented, organized, diligent
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Reuters and Bloomberg experience required
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to to be a pro-active problem solver
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent internal/external communication and analytical skills needed
  • Ability to work in office 5 days a week
  • Ability to travel
