Mid-Level Industrial Metals Market Intelligence Analyst

We are seeking a Mid-Level Metals Market Intelligence Analyst to strengthen the desk’s market‑sensing capability and analytical foundation. The role emphasizes gathering, synthesizing, and acting on market intelligence, supported by strong analytical skills and the ability to execute trades and assist with trade‑flow management when required.
Primary Focus – Market Intelligence & Analytics
- Monitor and interpret physical and derivative markets, including price trends, spreads, liquidity, and structural shifts.
- Build and maintain a robust network of market contacts (brokers, counterparties, suppliers, clients, hedge funds and analytic companies) to gather timely and actionable intelligence.
- Translate qualitative market feedback into structured insights on supply–demand balance, risk, and opportunity.
- Analyze market data, trade policy, curves, and trade economics to support pricing, hedging, and positioning decisions.
- Prepare regular market reports, trade summaries, and ad‑hoc analyses for traders and senior management.
- Track and explain key market drivers (e.g., logistics, weather, policy, inventories, contract roll activity) relevant to the metals markets.
Secondary Focus – Execution & Trade Flow Support
- Assist senior traders with the execution of physical and derivative trades in line with desk strategy and risk limits.
- Support trade‑flow management, including order routing, trade capture, and coordinating with operations and counterparties.
- Monitor execution quality and flag anomalies, slippage, or timing issues.
- Provide backup execution cover during peak volumes or when senior traders are unavailable.
- Ensure all trades and related activities comply with internal risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of experience in a metals trading, brokerage, research, or market‑facing analytics role.
- Proven ability to build and leverage a network of market contacts to generate actionable intelligence.
- Strong analytical mindset with comfort in working through data, fundamentals, and trade economics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- High numeracy, attention to detail, and familiarity with Excel and market‑data or trading systems.
- Ability to work independently while integrating closely with the broader trading team.
- Excellent English
